Kira Kim is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in private practice serving families all over the North Shore of Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Public health and has studied out-of-hospital based midwifery care through Mercy in Action and the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance. Marrying her love of birth with lactation, her clinical interest is in the influence of fetal positioning during labor and birth on early breastfeeding success. As well as doing in home lactation care, she studies clinical herbalism and teaches breastfeeding basics classes to doulas and midwives and is on faculty at CAPPA teaching the 20 hour Lactation Educator course.

When she is not immersed in studying and private practice work, she volunteers her time to causes related to reproductive justice as well as those that serve to increase diversity in the lactation field. She holds the consumer seat on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Midwives Alliance and is a general Board Member of the Massachusetts Lactation Consultant Association. Whether she is helping new families navigate the early days, helping a breastfeeding duo define their own success or teaching birthworkers and parents, she is passionate about connecting with other people and encouraging them to spread their knowledge to others. She lives by the beach with her husband and their four rambunctious kids, all four of whom enjoyed extended nursing relationships.
